title Yahoo

Background

In keeping with the company's reputation as a cutting edge innovator, Yahoo! wanted to produce a unique interactive experience. Brandfirst rose to the challenge and created an entirely new type of user experience to showcase their wide range of online services.

Solution

Brandfirst installed a 165" wall-sized screen at Yahoo!'s Sunnyvale headquarters that detects and interacts with people as they pass by.

It begins in 'attract' mode, displaying a giant Y! logo composed of individual stacking tiles. Each of these interactive tiles represents one of the brand's services, including Finance, Sport, News or Shine (horoscopes). As someone passes by, the tiles shift out of the Y! logo shape and mimics the user's movements. The tiles then respond to hand gestures and body movements, allowing them to be moved around, piled up and pushed off-screen.

Faster movements activate 'carousel mode', which allows users to bring tiles forward to read information on Yahoo! services, some of which is drawn from live Yahoo! feeds, such as sports scores or daily horoscopes.

Tronic Studio managed the graphical conception.
